Who I am

I am Karen Kao and this is my website: http://inkstonepress.com. I use this website to communicate with my subscribers and website visitors. Those communications include my blog,  book reviews and author events. You will also find announcements here regarding my new publications.

What personal data I collect and why I collect it

If you subscribe to my newsletter Shanghai Noir News, I will collect the data you enter on the registration form in order to send you these newsletters as well as occasional marketing campaigns.

If you reach out to me using the contact information form, I will collect the data you enter on the contact form in order to reply to your query. Your information will not otherwise be used.

For security purposes, I have disabled the option to leave comments on this website.

  • My newsletters and marketing campaigns are transmitted via MailChimp.

How long we retain your data

If you reach out to me using the contact form, your message and its metadata will be retained indefinitely. This is so I can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For subscribers to my newsletter, I will store the personal information you provide in your subscriber profile (first name, last name, email address and GDPR consent) indefinitely.

What rights you have over your data

If you choose to unsubscribe from my newsletter or contact me using a contact form, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data I hold about you, including any data you have provided to me. You can also request that I erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data I am obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where I send your data

I use Akismet and WP-SpamShield, automated spam detection services, to check visitor comments.
