Level I Workshop | Autumn 2018 | International Writers’ Collective
October 2 @ 10:00 - November 27 @ 12:00€395
This Level I workshop marks the start of my teaching journey. From 2 October through 27 November 2018, I’ll be walking my class through the fundamental techniques of writing. Narrators and point of view. Tone, mood and description. How action can reveal character and emotion.
This is a workshop where you’ll learn by doing. Each week, I’ll give you a sample text. We’ll talk about the craft techniques buried inside. Your homework will then be to write a two page exercise using those same crafts. At the next class, we’ll discuss your exercise, those written by your fellow students and the new sample text. Rinse and repeat. In the meantime, you’ll be learning to read like a writer and to edit your own work.
Level 1 is for aspiring writers, including those who’ve never before set pen to paper. It can also be useful to experienced writers in search of formal instruction. For fiction writers and poets alike!
We’ll be meeting once a week on Tuesday mornings from 10am to 12pm. There will be a break during the fall school holidays so that the last class will be on 27 November. All classes will be held at Boekhandel van Rossum on the Beethovenstraat. Please note that advance registration is required. There is limited space so sign up soon!
